A Day of Discovery: Exposure Visit for Hope God’s Children

Hope Public
Charitable Trust, Hope Vocational, and Residential Home for individuals with
Intellectual Disabilities conducted a special exposure visit on 29th May 2025
for their residents. The purpose was to give a recreational respite, trigger
sensory experiences, and enhance social and emotional well-being.

The residents
embarked on a fun-filled journey to two iconic destinations in Chennai:
Kasimedu Beach and the Kalaignar 100 Centenary Park. The sun, sand, and sea at
Kasimedu Beach provided the perfect setting for a relaxing morning. The
residents enjoyed the cool breeze, played games, and soaked up the sun’s warm
rays.

Then they went to
the Kalaignar 100 Centenary Park, a peaceful paradise amidst the city. The
residents strolled leisurely through the park’s greenery, colorful flowers, and
peaceful water bodies. This sensory experience assisted in stimulating their
senses and inducing a feeling of relaxation.

Besides these two
places, the locals also got to go to the Railway Museum at ICF Chennai. They
were amazed by the old trains, learned the history of Indian Railways, and even
got to inspect the coaches. This trip provided an additional dimension of
thrill and interest to their trip!

The exposure trip
was a success, having met its objective of offering a break from recreation and
enhancing social and emotional well-being. The residents came back with huge
smiles, new experiences, and memories to retain.

In order to
maintain the emotional and social growth of the residents, it is advisable to
have regular monthly or quarterly trips. These trips will still offer avenues
for growth, exploration, and enjoyment.
