From 11th to 14th November 2024 Chennai Volunteers organized an insightful workshop aimed at celebrating neurodiversity and training academicians, Special Educators and support staff members. The workshop, conducted at the Mecheri Centre, Teynampet, Chennai, featured professionals from the esteemed Portobello Institute in Ireland.
On 13th November, as part of this initiative, the resource persons visited our Hope Early Intervention Centre for Autism at Poonamallee, where they conducted enriching activities focused on sensory integration and music therapy. These sessions not only helped children improve their sensory processing skills but also offered parents valuable strategies to address common challenges they face. It was a wonderful opportunity for families to interact with experts, gain insights, and receive practical guidance on managing day-to-day concerns.
The workshop has been an inspiring and empowering experience, bringing together professionals and parents to learn, connect, and celebrate neurodiversity. A big thank you to Chennai Volunteers and Portobello Institute for their dedication and support in making this event a reality. We are excited to continue fostering an inclusive, supportive community for children with Autism and their families.
