Special Mother’s Day Celebration and Awareness Program for Mothers of Differently-Abled Children in Thiruvallur District

In a special celebration of Mother’s Day, the Department of Welfare of Differently-Abled Persons organized a significant awareness program in Thiruvallur district dedicated to the mothers of differently-abled children. The event took place today, May 17, 2025, at the District Collector’s Office, under the esteemed presence of the District Collector, Mr. Mu. Prathap I.A.S. The program was hosted by Dr. Nagarani, the Founder and Managing Trustee.

During this special occasion, the District Collector, Mr. Mu. Prathap I.A.S., had the honor of presenting appreciation certificates to recognize and commend the remarkable mothers.

Adding to the celebratory atmosphere, a cake-cutting ceremony was held, and tokens of appreciation were distributed as gifts to the differently-abled children and their cherished mothers. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of approximately 200 individuals, including the District Welfare Officer for Differently-Abled Persons, Mr. S. Srinivasan, esteemed special guests, dedicated special teachers, and committed special trainers.

A particularly poignant moment of the program was the heartfelt rendition of a song about mothers by Sugitha, a talented student from Hope Special School, which deeply resonated with everyone present.

The audience was also captivated by the exceptional keyboard performance of Babu, a student from Hope Special School, who left an indelible mark on their hearts.

In recognition of their moving contributions, both Sugitha and Babu were specially honored with the presentation of shawls by the District Collector.
