Success Story of MI Home (Egmore)

On December 13 Mrs. Kanniga, 81 years old, was rescued near Thiruvetriyur, New Street, and Mrs. Pushpa, 61 years old, was rescued from the central railway station by the Greater Chennai Corporation. They displayed symptoms such as mood swings, hallucinations, etc. They both require consistent psychiatric care, medication, and emotional support. Our professional social worker monitored and gave full-time assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, feeding, and mobility. We, the Hope Public Charitable Trust Shelter for Women with Psychosocial Needs, successfully referred Mrs. Kanniga, 81 years old, and Mrs. Pushapa, 61 years old, to the Aram Care Foundation for placement in their old age home. The inmate, who has no known family support, was identified as requiring specialized care and a safe living environment due to their mental illness, advanced age, and vulnerable status as an orphan. Their age and mental health condition, they need help with daily activities such as feeding, bathing, dressing, and mobility. Our beloved founder, Dr. V. Nagarani ma’am, was continuously hard-working, past one year for the referral process of the inmates. That effort brings a positive impact on the lives of inmates. Aram Care Foundation accepted the inmates and is providing the necessary care. Regular follow-ups will be conducted once a week to assess the inmate’s progress and well-being and adjust care plans as needed. The referral of Mrs. Kanniga and Mrs. Pushpa to the Aram Care Foundation has been successfully completed, ensuring they are now in a secure environment where their mental health and physical care needs are being met. The inmate’s transition into the facility has been smooth, and they are receiving the necessary care and support to improve her quality of life.
