In an inspiring effort to promote understanding, acceptance, and inclusion of individuals on the autism spectrum, Hope Public Charitable Trust organized a Walkathon at Besant Nagar Beach on March 22, 2025, as part of the World Autism Awareness Day observance. The event witnessed the heartfelt participation of children with autism, their families, therapists, caregivers, volunteers, and members of the general public.

The walkathon was a vibrant and energetic celebration of neurodiversity, aiming to raise awareness about autism and break the societal stigmas that still exist around developmental disabilities. Participants carried banners and wore blue – the official color of autism awareness – spreading messages of hope, love, and inclusion throughout the morning walk along the scenic beachside.

This special initiative was organized in collaboration with the Chennai Volunteers team, under the leadership of Rinku Ma’am, whose unwavering support, meticulous planning, and volunteer mobilization played a crucial role in the smooth and successful execution of the event. Their enthusiasm and compassion truly made a difference in creating an inclusive environment where every child felt seen, heard, and celebrated.

Parents of the children expressed their joy in seeing the community come together in solidarity, while the children themselves enjoyed a morning filled with movement, music, and smiles. The walkathon served not only as a public awareness campaign but also as a moment of empowerment for families of children with autism.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the volunteers, supporters, and well-wishers who joined us in this noble cause. Together, let us continue to build a society that embraces differences and ensures equal opportunities for every individual, regardless of ability.

Let’s walk together — not just for a day, but every day — toward a world of inclusion, dignity, and love.
