AFFWA Supports Parents of Special Needs Children Avadi, Tamil Nadu – The Air Force Wives Welfare Association (AFFWA) at Air Force Station, Avadi under the leadership of President, Group Captain Rachana Sharma (Retd) recently organized a very emotional and extremely informative knowledge-sharing session for the parents of children with special needs at the Hope Vocational Training Center in Annembedu. The session was an excellent opportunity for parents to enrich their knowledge of the therapeutic interventions needed for childhood growth and development. Staff members from the Hope Public Charitable Trust (part of their Charity arm) served as expert resource persons, led the fully informative demonstration sessions, and very carefully detailed the significance of the contributions of Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), and Speech Therapy to the overall health and well-being of a child. Parents were very keen and focused and listened intently, and were provided with tips and education, to help them make an important change to their child’s life. In addition to the very informative demonstrations, the mood was further animated and uplifted by the wonderful performances of the students of the Hope Vocational Training Centre. The students’ talents and passion of Hope Vocational training center inspired all that attended the session, while the joy, kinship, and enthusiasm that were created by the students was shared by all.The event was a great success in building a helpful community for one another.
