people with psycho social needs. She has a previous experience in a private school as student counsellor. Her role is to take care of shelter home activities, and report to the officials of NGO and Greater Chennai Corporation. As a counselor she does psycho social intervention for the patients, gives them counselings, recreational activities, vocational training etc. The diagnosis, medication for the resident is done by a psychiatric consultant periodically,follow up action is taken care by the coordinator with the help of other staff. There are ample numbers of challenges that a shelter coordinator has to go on and she manages systematically to solve the psychiatric issues of the residences by using her extraordinary talents. During the second wave or COVID – 19 pandemic, more than half of the residents at ‘Hope Shelter for Women with Psycho Social Needs’ were affected and a lots of hurdles were faced by the entire team. The positive willingness of the coordinator and due to her strenuous effort along with the team was able to recover the residents from Covid – 19 and bring the shelter home back to normal state. As a routine she undergo recreational sessions for the residents like exercise &
meditation, fun games, painting and awareness on hygiene, life skill training, vocational training along with the trainer, etc. She conducts regular counseling session twice a day for each resident. With her leadership quality the team was able to reintegrate 27 residents with their families. As a committed Professional Social Worker, she is working with great motivation and takes every struggle as a challenge and tries to learn from it. Another significant role she does is the ‘Rescue Mission’ along with GCC Rescue team.She goes on and on even during the night time for night visits and rescue. She happily involves in this noble job of rescuing the abandoned women with psycho social needs and providing protection in the shelter home.
