A ray of hope Panimalar Medical College Interns visited Autism Centre on 3 July, 2025 a team from Panimalar Medical College consisting of doctors and doctors in training visited the Hope Early Intervention Centre for Autism in Poonamallee. The interns had a wonderful eye opening experience to see the tremendous work being done with children with autism. They witnessed excellent therapeutic techniques being implemented and were able to interact with the children and staff, and learn great things about early intervention. It was good for parents too, who had the chance for face to face interaction, and with doctors’ recommendations at hand. This visit had the immediacy of real life education outside of the classroom, and it allowed the group to stealthily appreciate the unique role of medical practitioners within specific healthcare domains. Upon leaving the Panimalar team felt inspired and invigorated to make a difference. It was an amazing day of education, opening hope, and reinforcing just how compassionate health care can mean something real.
