A soulful project to support the livelihood of Children with special needs was executed on June 8, 2024. Rotary Club of Chennai Bharathi donated musical instruments worth one lakh to children and adults with autism from the Hope Public Charitable Trust. The instruments included Mridangam, tabla, and electric guitar. The handover ceremony was held at the Hope Vocational Training Center for intellectual disability in Annambedu. The chairman and managing Director of Lifeline Hospital and the multi-faceted Dr. J.S. Rajkumar preceded the function as the Chief guest. Dr. Rajkumar was extremely pleased with the proceedings of the institution and expressed his happiness about being a part of this ceremony. He thanked the president for making him a part of this event. It was a pleasant surprise as he picked the microphone not just to speak but to sing a track along with the autistic child Vishal, who played the drums as he sang along. Vishal is an autistic adult who plays drums and the keyboard. On June 3, he continuously played the drums for 6 hours to break the Guinness Book of World Records record. There are more than 100 students in this center whose livelihood will be music. This moment and the smiles on God’s Children will be cherished forever. This momentous occasion was graced by the presence of the President of RC Chennai Bharathi, Rtn. Dr. Jayashree Kadambi, club secretary Rtn. Sujatha, Rtn. Sridevi, Dr. Nagarani, founder of Hope Public Charitable Trust, and the dedicated staff and students of Hope Public Charitable Trust. Their collective presence and support underscore the community’s commitment to the cause and the event’s success. The chairperson of the environment, Rtn. Sridevi also made a kind gesture by donating five ceiling fans to the institution. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the generous donors who, through their selfless contributions, made this event a resounding success and a cherished memory. Your support has not only provided musical instruments but also hope and a brighter future for these special children. We look forward to your continued support in our future endeavors.
