Chennai, May 11, 2025 – In a heartwarming celebration of motherhood and inclusivity, the Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, Thiru R.N. Ravi, along with the First Lady, Tmt. Laxmi Ravi, spent International Mother’s Day with children with special needs at an event organized by Hope Public Charitable Trust at Bharathiar Mandapam, Raj Bhavan, Chennai.
The event commenced with a ceremonial welcome to the Hon’ble Governor, followed by the National Anthem and Tamil Thaai Vaazthu. A stirring rendition of Bharathiyar’s iconic song ‘Paarukulle Nalla Naadu’ set a patriotic tone. The Governor, along with other dignitaries, inaugurated the function by lighting the Kuththu Vilakku, symbolizing enlightenment and hope.
One of the most moving moments of the day came from a soulful prayer song presented by children with autism, leaving the audience visibly touched. A captivating cultural performance by the Hope’s Harmonious Rocker’s Band, featuring Thiru. Wow Karthick, Thiru. Babu, Thiru. Vishal, and Thiru. Esakkiraj, showcased the immense musical talent of the children and received thunderous applause.
The formal segment began with a welcome address by Dr. V. Nagarani, Founder and Managing Trustee of Hope Public Charitable Trust and Member of the State Advisory Board of Disability, Government of Tamil Nadu. She emphasized the importance of recognizing and nurturing the unique abilities of differently-abled children and highlighted the significance of celebrating mothers who support them with unwavering love.
Renowned academician and speaker, Tmt. Jayanthasri Balakrishnan, delivered an inspiring guest address on fostering inclusive environments and the vital role of educators and families in enabling special children to thrive.
In a touching tribute to maternal resilience, the Hon’ble Governor felicitated the mothers of 106 specially-abled children. His interactions and words of encouragement created moments of joy and validation for both the children and their families.
The Governor also honored the young cultural performers for their exceptional talents. In his presidential address, Thiru R.N. Ravi reflected on the profound role of mothers in shaping society and praised the determination and capabilities of the special children. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating inclusive support systems and opportunities for them.
Dr. Jayashree Kadambi delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor, the First Lady, esteemed guests, and all who contributed to the success of the event. The program concluded with the National Anthem and a memorable group photo session, where the Governor personally interacted with the children, bringing immense joy to each one of them.
