HOPE CARE CENTRE FOR ABANDONED SPECIAL CHILDREN

Students were taught Vocational skills, functional academics, and co-circular activities for seven students in which their progress are discussed and suggestions are given for planning further skills and teach them effectively.  

VIRTUAL LEARNING 

In this month the students were taught moral values through virtual class by using an overhead projector which Provided an abundance of behavioral change for specific disabilities such as autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and attention deficit hyper activeness, In addition, it provided special interest for the students and improved concentration power and it reduced some specific behavior problem like attention deficit and undesirable repetitive behaviors.

VOCATIONAL SKILLS 

CATERING SKILL:  

In this month students were trained to prepare tea and to cut fruits and vegetables as the result of this training the student learned to measure the appropriate tea powder, milk, sugar, and water to prepare tea at a constant temperature and few students cut vegetables, fruits and help the catering department. Students show a special interest in catering skills so we can teach another menu in feature. 

PET CARE : 

The students were involved in taking care of the pets which showed great development in the emotional quotient, being responsible, maintaining self-esteem, and managing anxiety and mood-related challenges. 

SKILL TRAINING IN GARDENING: 

Students were trained in gardening skills like picking up tiny weeds,  watering, and gently caring for the seedlings and plants, gardening encourages the development of fine motor skills every step of the way. Plants require a lot of care now the students show more interest in caring for the plants which was a great opportunity to develop responsibility among all students.

FUNCTIONAL ACADEMICS 

READING AND WRITING: 

 Students were trained to read and write simple words, friends’ names, words from simple storybooks to use in the application situation. As a result of this training, students were able to write their names, identify the words but constant training must be given to use the words in the generalized situations.  

MATHS:  

Students were trained to calculate the cost of the item in purchased bills as a result of this training it helped them to calculate the total amount of the purchased bill in application aspect now the students were able to add four-digit numbers with the help of verbal clues and few students does simple addition without help so students must be given constant training to do simple addition and subtraction without help.  

TIME:  

Students were trained to do the work within the time frame. Now they are able to do the work within the time frame with help so students must be given constant training to do the work within the time frame without help. 

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES 

PLAY THERAPY:  

Students were taught breathing exercises, indoor and outdoor games which helped to maintain physical wellbeing. Our hope home children are made to play to develop their problem-solving attitude, it also helped them to increase their physical stamina.

DRAWING AND PAINTING:  

Students were trained to paint different pictures like dolls, flowers, etc… in which they are able to select the suitable color for the picture and also color them neatly. As a result of this training their creativity, concentration power, and attention span were enhanced. 

SKILL TRAINING FOR STAFF AT HOPE PSYCHIATRIC  REHABILITATION SHELTER FOR WOMEN(MI) 

In this month skill training was given to staff to train the destitute women with psychological problems at HOPE PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION SHELTER FOR  WOMEN(MI) Egmore were the staff got training in teaching strategies and cover making and they applied the strategies to teach the women (MI) as the result of this training the resident learned and few started to make the cover with the use of newspaper.

SUGGESTION & CONCLUSION: Vocational skills, domestic skills, functional academics, and co-circular activities were taught, all students are able to do the learned skill if constant training is given to the students they can also do the next level of skills without help. In this month the students were involved in virtual learning which showed a great change in the odd behavior and the Women at HOPE PSYCHIATRIC REHABILITATION SHELTER FOR  WOMEN(MI) Egmore learned the taught skill if constant training is given we can create self-employment opportunities in the coming future.
